The effects of an intervention on incidences of low blood pressure during hemodialysis

Low blood pressure is one of the most common health problems in the process hemodialysis, it could cause complications and increase mortality rates of patients with hemodialysis. After analysis, the researchers concluded: (1) the method of body weight measurement is inaccurate, (2) the timing is inappropriate in taking the anti-hypertension medicines, and (3) no unified standard procedures to prevent blood pressure drop and manage low blood pressure in the process of hemodialysis. The purpose of this study is to prevent the occurring rate of low blood pressure in the process of hemodialysis. The professional team established procedures in order to teach patients the method of measuring body weight accurately; using the anti-hypertension medicine box, so that the right timing for taking hypertension medicine properly; building up the uniformity procedures of preventing blood pressure drop and managing low blood pressure in the process of hemodialysis for nursing staffs. After conducting the methods mentioned in the study, the occurrence rate of low blood pressure dropped from 9.45% to 5.80%. As a result, related complications were decreased.
